2 months of no Working out

It doesnt make much sense to Blog about working out when you are not working out. After the last post, which was a brick, both heels lit up nd my knee got sore at the beginning of October. As a result, I decided to take some time off to allow the heels to heal. So everything is starting to feel better. Mrs. Tripolii and I are going to a yoga class tomorrow to try to start getting back into the groove. More starting tomorrow.

Frustrating

While my knee surgery seems to be successful, I am now experiencing IT band problems on that same knee. Even worse the hot spot on my other heel has turned into a continuous pain across the bottom of most of my foot. I have switched orthotics (at the advice of the doctor) which seems to be the thing that has made this so much worse. I am open to any suggestions to fix. Swimming seems to help but I don’t really have time to swim.

This is very frustrating as it seems to be a step forward and 2 steps back.

Theme Park Miles?

Does anyone know how to find out how many walking miles in a theme park specifically Sea World, Animal Kingdom or Disney?

Bad news for all of us weight obsessed individuals

Excess Pounds, but Not Too Many, May Lead to Longer Life

I am back (hopefully) :)

I have not been blogging for last couple of weeks for several reasons. A) very busy at work (danged bankrupt auto companies) and B) I have not been exercising much. Last exercise blog I had sore knees and feet and was very frustrated. Mrs. Tripolii started running again and I joined her (2 years she took off for having a baby and ensuing case of Mono - :) for baby, :( for mono). We are basically jogging very slow 10:30 pace miles or slower. Amazingly my feet have actually started feeling better. My knee is still stiff but hey.

So good news feet feeling better and I am running with my wife again.  This is so good.  Our relationship has been built on many things but running together was one of them.

Examining what I did wrong, I basically broke a fundamental rule of injury free running.   Afternot running (only using elliptical) all winter, I tried to do to much to fast without building a base.  Recovering has been following part of the tried and true methods of M.I.C.E.  Motion, Ice, Compression, Elevation.  I havent been consistent; however, running slower, iceing and compressing sometimes and elevating when possible has helped to alleviate feet and ankle pain.

When I was in significant pain, I made 2 appointments – Going to see a podiatrist that runs on Friday. Going to see knee surgeon for Detroit Tigers and Lions in a couple of weeks.   The podiatrist is a runner and I would like to get his opinion on long term foot care, as well as, I would like to have orthotics checked.  The knee surgeon I want to understand what the problem is and what potential solutions are.
