First Ride since Scope

I had my first ride since the scope yesterday.  It was short, but it felt great.  I am not really allowed to run until approximately July 18th (a month after surgery).  My biggest fear is that I will try to do to much to fast.  I am going for a ride again tonight as long as thunderstorms hold off.  Could also do recumbent if it rains.  It is really great to be exercising again with minimal pain.

Scoping my Knee – repost from June 8th

I have had significant knee pain since March. I finally have the results back from the MRI and I have a torn meniscus. My knee has been bothering me for a number of years. I couldn’t tell whether it was bio-mechanical or if there was a real issue. The MRI also showed “garbage” in the knee. Doctor said that he may flush the knee as well to remove the garbage.

Surgery is scheduled for next week. I will be glad to get it over with. I am supposed to be able to get back to training in a month. I will need to find a race to set for a goal. I am really going crazy not exercising.

I am ready to scream

It has been about a month (or since March) of not really working out.  The weight is slowly creeping up, in spite of only eating about 2000 calories a day.  Knee Surgery is on Thursday.  It will be another month before I can start running again.

No tri this year.  That really stinks.  I was really geeked about doing a tri and had told lots of people I was doing one.   Goal will be to be run the Turkey trot this year.  I would really like to run Brooksie or Detroit half marathon, but that may be too soon (10-12 weeks after surgery).  I will have to play that by ear and maybe run just as a long run anyway.

I will be very glad to get this surgery over with.  I am really tired of my knee hurting very day and not running, biking, etc.    It even hurts to swim which is amazing to me.

More on Friday after the surgery. :)
