Well we were doing good with the slow running. Then Mrs. Tripolii decided she wanted a cat. She has been wanting an animal for a while. She knows she has allergies but thought maybe they were gone. Anyway she had an allergic reaction to the cat and as a result got a sinus infection and quit running.
I have been having planer fasciitis and knee issues. Very frustrating to be a human being some times
. I am supposed to get MRI results and new orthotics next week. Actually would prefer to have a torn meniscus because then they could fix it. If it is arthritis, I am sol.
More to come next week.

I love sushi. Not really sure why. I have noticed that other runners and tri-athletes like sushi as well. Particularly if it is made with brown rice.
Once a quarter (give or take), it gives me some sort of low grade food poisoning. Made Mrs. Tripolii mad this week end because I was ill again. It lasts for about a day. Just bad enough to make me hang out and do nothing for a day. It seems almost suspiciously coincident with the weekend. Unfortunately, Saturday it rained and Sunday which was ok, I was ill all day and did nothing. No running, biking or chores. I made an effort and went to see Mrs. Tripolii at work, but the weekend was a waste.

The podiatrist I went to is a runner and was highly recommended. All that being said, I guess I really don’t know what I was looking for. He said my new orthopedics weren’t particularly good for me. My old ones were much better but didn’t support my left ankle well.
My left ankle is the one with significant corrective surgery for club feet. So he prescribed a brace for my left foot because it is severely pronated. He also recommended totally different dress shoes from what I am wearing. My running shoes (Brooks Adrenaline) were good.
I knew all of this but really didn’t want to hear any of it. Maybe vanity or something but I don’t want to wear a brace. 2 years of pain on one foot and 2 months of on/off running because of pain. Guess I need to try something new.

Going to podiatrist today. Unfortunantly, (or fortunantly) first time in nearly 2 years my feet are not hurting.

I have not been blogging for last couple of weeks for several reasons. A) very busy at work (danged bankrupt auto companies) and B) I have not been exercising much. Last exercise blog I had sore knees and feet and was very frustrated. Mrs. Tripolii started running again and I joined her (2 years she took off for having a baby and ensuing case of Mono - :) for baby, :( for mono). We are basically jogging very slow 10:30 pace miles or slower. Amazingly my feet have actually started feeling better. My knee is still stiff but hey.
So good news feet feeling better and I am running with my wife again. This is so good. Our relationship has been built on many things but running together was one of them.
Examining what I did wrong, I basically broke a fundamental rule of injury free running. Afternot running (only using elliptical) all winter, I tried to do to much to fast without building a base. Recovering has been following part of the tried and true methods of M.I.C.E. Motion, Ice, Compression, Elevation. I havent been consistent; however, running slower, iceing and compressing sometimes and elevating when possible has helped to alleviate feet and ankle pain.
When I was in significant pain, I made 2 appointments – Going to see a podiatrist that runs on Friday. Going to see knee surgeon for Detroit Tigers and Lions in a couple of weeks. The podiatrist is a runner and I would like to get his opinion on long term foot care, as well as, I would like to have orthotics checked. The knee surgeon I want to understand what the problem is and what potential solutions are.
