I am tired of pain. I have bursitis in both heels right now. I am having problem with my right knee (stiff and sore). Bursitis/tendinitis in my right ankle has been going on for 2 years now. Bursitis in left ankle has been going on for 3-6 months. Knee problems have been off and on ever since I started running. Knee just feels “tight” stiff and has low level pain. All of the pains go away when running but return later.
I have been to the doctor for right ankle and he prescribed stretching and icing. Neither of which seemed to help. Bicycling did seem to help. I have not been to the doctor for the rest because he will only me for one problem at a time. I am convinced this is a system problem and examining each in isolation will not solve.
All the reading that I have done says stretching, compression, ice and motion are best cues. The doctor I went to treats Olympic athletes so he has a very good reputation. Anyone else have anything better? Go to a different doctor?

This opinion was in the New York Times today. Titled “The Inflection is Near”

I have been asking this question of myself and of others for the last 10 years. It belongs in this blog under family. There must be someway out of this boom/bust cycle that drives us from “irrational exuberance” to “irrational depression”. I dont have any answers but rational intelligent human beings as a collective must.

Oh my gosh. Macie was up at 2, 3, 4 , and 5 am. I was all set to get up and run this morning at 4:00 but given that I didn’t get any sleep from about 2:00 on it just wasn’t happening. Unfortunately she was also up on Monday morning at 3:00 am. I was just commenting how good she was doing sleeping when all of a sudden she has stopped. One day I will get back to running.

I screwed up this weekend. I had a 10 mile run to get in this weekend. It was cool but nice Saturday afternoon, but I didn’t go for my run, I took the baby and dog for a long walk. I thought it was supposed to be nice on Sunday and my legs were sore. But it turned out to be freezing on Sunday (23 degrees with 10-15 mile per our winds out of North) making it way to cold to go out with the baby. So no run. This is going to make Martian half impossible. I can run the 10k but even that will be slow. I am going to need to shift to the Dextor-Ann Arbor run on May 31st.
